Currently, officials of 15 states and territories have decided to temporarily close schools completely to combat the spread of the new coronavirus. This is stated in a message on the website of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
As a result, it was noted that more than 290.5 million children and adolescents could not attend educational institutions. As experts say, schools are closed in Iran, Italy, Mongolia, China, North Korea, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates.
In addition to these states, some countries have closed educational institutions in certain areas. We are talking about nine states: England, Vietnam, Germany, Pakistan, USA, France, South Korea.
UNESCO has announced that in some countries children have problems in feeding their children because they are underage. Parents sitting at home with their children are at risk of losing their jobs or lowering their income.
On 10 March, UNESCO will hold an urgent meeting of education ministers to discuss the situation. Politicians hope to develop measures to maintain a continuing and equal school education system.
